From Midwest, To Obsessed…

St. Louis born, Florida based, Ken Apperson is a musician on a journey. From his beginnings as a teenaged songwriter and frontman seeing first successes on pop and rock radio in his home town, to his first tours and venue residences in Missouri and the surrounding region, to emerging as a constantly in demand solo artist and performer upon his arrival in the Southeast, Ken has walked through genres, guitar in hand.

In 2011, Ken Apperson released his first solo EP, entitled “Puzzle Pieces” and with a song writer based sound and groove oriented backing group, began a performance run that included prominent venues in the Bay Area such as the Ritz, Jannus Live, Curtis Hixon Park‘s music series, Williams Park Festival, the Orpheum, Crowbar Live,  singer songwriter haven the Hideaway Cafe and many more.

Soon opening slots for touring acts followed, and Ken performed as support for Sister Hazel, Rob Thomas, and others, before making his way to Nashville for songwriting collaboration and performances at Tootsie’s, Wanted Saloon and the Losers Bar.

The Pivot…

Fast-forward to 2020.  When the pandemic ravaged the music industry, like so many others, Apperson was forced to reassess his career.  He decided to team up with Lunarvue to create Coda Project, the Tampa Bay areas first live-streamed music talk show.  As the Show’s host and producer, Apperson used the platform to showcase the regions best musical artists and help the Tampa Bay area fall in love with its homegrown music.

Coda Projects success attracted the attention of WMNF 88.5fm, who made the decision to offer Ken Apperson the opportunity to Host and produce Live Music Showcase, a drive time on-air show.  Apperson accepted the position and continues to introduce the Tampa Bay area to its most talented and prolific musicians.

How It’s Going…

In addition to being a Radio host and Tampa music advocate, currently Ken Apperson has resumed performing all over the Tampa Bay area and is finalizing his long-anticipated EP.  Release is set for later this year (2021).

Wearing his influences on his guitar, sounds ring out of Eric Clapton, John Mayer, James Taylor, Tom Petty, and more. Now with a fresh set of songs, and a more refined sound, Ken Apperson is in the middle of new travels; ones that will bring him to venues across the 50 United States and beyond.
